A winter shoot, from the school to the Baltic Sea

For Monetochka’s Self-Harm, Labas Krabas brought together a school location, thirty extras and a vintage bus. Filmed in January 2026, the production moved between school interiors and outdoor scenes in temperatures as low as −23°C.

A school becomes a film location

We rented a school for the shoot, with thirty extras taking part in the production. The behind-the-scenes photographs show the work behind the finished scenes: camera setups, lighting, decorated corridors and the cast gathering for a school photograph.

When the cold changes the plan

Outdoor filming took place at −20°C. The cold also affected the vintage bus: its gearbox froze and the vehicle could not move. The Baltic Sea scenes brought another challenge, with temperatures dropping to −23°C. Winter was a very real part of this production, both on screen and behind the camera.
